BUSNA to host webinar with Dr. Jennifer E. Thorne, MD PhD

Birdshot Uveitis Society of North America is pleased to present a virtual visit with Jennifer E. Thorne, MD PhD, Cross Family Professor of Ophthalmology and Chief, Division of Ocular Immunology Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Medicine. The free event will take place on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at 5:30pm EDT. Advance Registration is required.

Dr. Thorne is an internationally recognized uveitis specialist. During this webinar, she will discuss her latest birdshot research and answer questions. Those in attendance will learn about The Cross Family Professorship and Birdshot Research Fund at Johns Hopkins University. BUSNA is proud to support this Birdshot Research Fund.

In addition to being the Cross Family Professor of Ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Dr. Thorne is chief of the Division of Ocular Immunology. She holds a joint appointment as professor of epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

An internationally recognized and board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Thorne is an expert in the evaluation and management of patients with uveitis and other related immune-mediated disorders. Dr. Thorne's research interests include white dot syndromes including birdshot chorioretinitis, multifocal choroiditis and punctate inner choroiditis. She also studies juvenile idiopathic arthritis-related uveitis and treatment outcomes of immunosuppressive drug therapy.

Dr. Thorne received her M.D. degree from the University of Virginia and completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Pennsylvania's Scheie Eye Institute. She completed her uveitis fellowship at Wilmer and completed her Ph.D. in epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Read more here.
